Who can turn to the Children's Cancer Aid?

All families with children and adolescents suffering from cancer in Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland. This includes affected children themselves, as well as parents, siblings, and relatives.

No. The St. Anna Kinderspital and Kinderkrebshilfe Wien–NÖ–Burgenland are independent organizations. However, St. Anna Kinderspital is an important partner hospital of the Children's Cancer Aid, with whom we work closely. Among other things, the Children's Cancer Aid supports the oncology departments through third-party funding of important services, such as the mobile services and social workers in the oncology departments. A comparable collaboration also exists with the AKH Children's Clinic. In short: We are different organizations, but we work closely and in partnership for the same common cause: the best possible support for children and adolescents with cancer and their families.

Yes. Donations to Kinderkrebshilfe Wien–NÖ–Burgenland are tax-deductible. So that your donation can be automatically considered by the tax office, please provide your first and last name and your date of birth when making the transfer. Kinderkrebshilfe will then correctly report the donation to the tax office; it will be automatically considered in your employee tax return or income tax assessment.

No. In addition to monetary donations, we also welcome donations of goods, especially in the context of events such as the HopeRun, the Christmas market, or other charity events. Which in-kind donations are currently needed depends on the specific occasion. Therefore, we ask that you contact us in advance. Furthermore, it is also possible to remember Kinderkrebshilfe Wien–NÖ–Burgenland in your will and thus do good in the long term with your own inheritance.

Kinderkrebshilfe Wien–NÖ–Burgenland finances its work primarily through donations, benefit events, in-kind donations, and testamentary bequests. This support makes it possible to help affected families quickly and unbureaucratically, as well as to co-finance important services such as mobile services, social work, psychological support, and other projects.

Yes. Kinderkrebshilfe Wien–NÖ–Burgenland works with a small team and a lean administration. This allows donations to be used specifically where they are urgently needed. With your support, we fund important projects such as the mobile services, psychosocial support, social work, and aftercare programs. Furthermore, families in particularly stressful situations can also be supported directly and unbureaucratically.

Not everything. Many medical services are covered by the public health system. However, there are numerous important support services that are not, or not fully, government-funded. This is exactly where Kinderkrebshilfe Wien–NÖ–Burgenland comes in: we fund services such as mobile care, social work on oncology wards, psychological and psychosocial support, and direct aid for families in difficult situations. These services provide significant relief for children, adolescents, and their relatives, and are only possible through donations and support.

Because many of our most important support services require ongoing funding. The third-party funding for central services alone, such as mobile services and social workers in our partner hospitals, costs over one million Euros per year, not including additional costs like travel expenses, fuel, or other expenditures. In addition, there are other important support services such as direct financial aid for families, self-help groups, counseling, guidance, and projects that provide relief for children and adolescents with cancer and their families in their daily lives. Every donation helps to make this support reliably possible.

Yes, because each of these organizations does important work concerning childhood cancer, but with different focuses. Donations to the Children's Cancer Research primarily support scientific research and the advancement of therapies. Donations to St. Anna Kinderspital go towards hospital operations, such as medical staff, equipment, or infrastructure. The Vienna Red Cross is behind St. Anna Kinderspital. Donations to Kinderkrebshilfe Wien–NÖ–Burgenland primarily enable concrete support for affected children, adolescents, and their families. This includes, among other things, third-party funding for social workers and mobile services, direct financial assistance, psychosocial support, self-help groups, and other services. In short: All of them do valuable work. The important thing is that you know which area you want to specifically support with your donation.
